Combo meals with a main, a side and a drink are common and generally the best value. Food courts and food halls group several counters under one roof and let you mix orders from different vendors at shared seating, which is useful for groups with different cravings. Noodle shops and dumpling counters often sell by the dozen or by weight rather than as fixed plates, so check the board before ordering. Most of these spots take cards and mobile pay, and tipping is optional at counter service, though a jar for the staff is common.

Maybe you aren't feeling a full meal. Maybe you want a little something to hold you over. That's the 12 oz. Maybe you do want a full meal, you want delicious soup. 16 oz. With some Challah bread will hit the spot. Wanna pick up something to take home and feed yourself and your partner? Yep .. there's a big size also. I don't tend to miss a visit here when I am in Grand Rapids. I'm not in town all the time, but when I am, I like to stop here. The soup changes, so there is no boredom with the fare offered. They make their own root beer, which has a saspirilla aftertaste that hearkens back to and old time root beer. Whether you are grabbing something to go, or feel like sitting down for a sec, you will not be disappointed. If it's available, the Loaded Potato, the Hungarian Mushroom, and the Lobster Bisque are special dishes that you have to have at least one

3 soups ordered with challah. Soooooo good! Cheetah bean (smoky, hammy goodness), Moroccan Yaken (ground beef, amazing spice, absolutely delish!), and Mulligatawney (savory, flavorful, chicken and apples 👌). I would order all 3 again!

I recently stopped by Uncle Cheetah's Soup Shop on the east side of Grand Rapids and WOW — this place is a hidden gem for anyone who loves seriously good comfort food done right. The soups are incredibly fresh, flavorful, and clearly made from scratch. You can tell there’s real creativity in the rotating daily selections — every bite tastes thoughtful, rich, and perfectly balanced. Pair it with one of their gourmet grilled cheeses and it’s basically comfort-food heaven. The vibe is casual, welcoming, and just the kind of spot you want when it’s chilly outside or you’re craving something satisfying without being heavy. Staff were friendly, quick, and genuinely passionate about what they serve. If you’re in Grand Rapids and haven’t been yet, you’re missing out. It’s the kind of place you visit once… and suddenly it becomes a regular stop. Highly recommend.

Was in the area and decided to try it. Had the Lobster Bisque. Really no lobster to speak of. I prefer my Lobster Bisque creamier too but that’s just my preference. They had some interesting sandwiches that I will try next time along with another soup. What I really like is they offer Great Lakes Potato Chip Co. chips and Faygo Pop! Love the Michigan tie in. The seating and space is limited, but everyone we dined with were friendly and accommodating.

Stopped in to get food to go & tried the broccoli cheese soup with a grilled cheese sandwich. The soup was $8, which came with a bun or like roll included and tasted great. Nice size portion, but then the grilled cheese was also $8 for an average size piece of bread, kinda on the small size given the price. It was good but not great in flavor, and in my opinion, it was not worth the eight I paid for such a small sandwich. Next time, I will just stick to the soup. I've had a few different flavors now there, and that's always the best bang for your buck if you're on a budget for sure. You won't be disappointed in the soups. Give them a try. Very nice employees tho & fairly fast from the beginning of order till you receive your food. I just wish their shop was a little bigger inside to sit. There's not much space at all, but most people I feel get it to go because of this. Its clean and quick service is always nice. Give their soup a try if you're in the area. There are lots of soups to choose from.
